SGK/SSCr

Crystallographic research in Switzerland started in 1856, with Gustav Kenngott, a professor of mineralogy at ETH and University of Zurich. Since then, efforts of Scherrer, Debye, von Laue, Niggli, Dunitz and many others have helped create modern crystallography at Swiss institutes and worldwide.

The Swiss Society for Crystallography was founded in 1968 by crystallographers, chemists, solid-state physicists and mineralogists. To date, the society serves as a common forum for interdisciplinary scientific exchange.
