Webinar: Macromolecular Crystallography at High Energies

Tuesday, August 18, 2020
2 p.m. (CEST) | 8 a.m. (EST)
with Selina Storm from
Diamond Light Source (DLS)

Using high energies for macromolecular X-ray crystallography (MX) brings many promises such as reduced damage to samples and more efficient data collection. But this technique requires a suitable detector. In this webinar, Dr. Selina Storm, a serial crystallography beamline scientist on I24 at Diamond Light Source, will compare different detector sensors (450 um Si sensor and 1000 um CdTe sensor) based on the collected data, talk about photoelectron escape in microcrystals at higher energies, and introduce other benefits of collecting MX data at high energies. Together with Dr. Andreas Förster, an application scientist at DECTRIS, Storm will answer your questions on the CdTe sensor performance and experimental setup.

About Diamond Light Source (DLS)

Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron and one of the most advanced scientific facilities in the world.  Its purpose is to produce intense beams of light whose special characteristics are useful in many areas of scientific research. In particular it can be used to investigate the structure and properties of a wide range of materials.
